PROGRAMMING
Canadian and Southern California TV viewers desperate for their doses of Housewives, were left rather unhappy two Sundays ago. Canada's CTV reportedly aired several scenes multiple times and dropped other scenes from its broadcast entirely. And in So Cal, a local cable operator accidentally aired the first 50 minutes of the show in Spanish. [E! Online]

Usually a show has to be failing to warrant a major talent replacement, but not in the case of ABC's Commander in Chief. Rod Lurie, the show's creator, has been replaced by veteran TV producer Steven Bochco after concerns arose about production delays on the new hit show. [The New York Times]

Consumer-created advertisements have begun to make their mark on the Internet, and Al Gore's Current TV network may try to bring that trend to TV airwaves. Current's ad sales proposition includes isolated creative brand messages better known as island messages and exclusive sponsorships of programming pods. [Advertising Age]

TECHNOLOGY
Fed up with the monopoly foreign countries have on DVD manufacturing, a Chinese government-affiliated research body announced in Beijing that it will develop China's own DVD format. The new format will be based on the HD-DVDs, and will produce better sound, picture and increased copyright protection. [The Star Malaysia]

CONTROVERSY
Mark Burnett is not very happy with NBC at the moment. The veritable reality TV king lashed out at the U.S. network in a Los Angeles Times article, criticizing the fact that there have been very few promos for The Apprentice: Martha Stewart, which despite being one of the most talked-about fall season series, has been unable to attract a large core audience.
