hopes of creating another hit of "Blue Heelers" caliber, but so far, all attempts

Cox Enterprises, parent company of cable giant Cox Communications is betting
that the company can do better as a private business. The company reached an
agreement to buy out public minority shareholders in its cable business for
$8.5 billion.

An Internet frenzy was set off after usually jovial "Daily Show" host Jon
Stewart let off some steam during an appearance on CNN's "Crossfire." The
comedian accused the show of "partisan hackery" and suggested that conservative host
Tucker Carlson attend journalism school. The online transcript and video clips

A new gadget called TV-B-Gone attaches to keychains and works as a universal
TV remote that shuts off small screens everywhere. The device, aimed at the

Real estate and reality TV mogul Donald Trump sent billionaire and TV rival
Marc Cuban of ABC's "The Billionaire," a tongue-in-cheek letter, expressing his

CONTROVERSY
The mess that is the Bill O'Reilly sexual harassment scandal continues on its
downhill spiral. The accuser's lawyers say she turned down a $2 million offer

Sinclair Broadcasting Group seems to have backed down in the face of
opposition . . . not to mention plummeting stocks. The company has halted plans to air
its anti-John Kerry documentary and has announced, instead, that it will air
excerpts of the doomed doc as part of a program exploring political

"The Times" bfi London Film Festival begins its two-week run tonight. The
